Country Inn of Shakopee, 62-room hotel, built in 1997

Mahman Hotel Group Inc., Ankeny, Iowa

Shakopee Valley LLC, Bloomington

The transaction:

For the first time since it opened in 1997, the Country Inn & Suites at 1204 Ramsey St. S. in Shakopee has new owners, a new management company and soon will have a whole new look. The original owners, identified only as Shakopee Valley LLC, sold the 62-unit hotel on July 17 to Mahman Hotel Group Inc. The new ownership group includes two unnamed partners from Ankeny, Iowa, and Twin Cities hotel operator Saeed Khan, the founder, chairman and CEO of Minneapolis-based STAYAT Worldwide. STAYAT will manage the hotel and oversee the complete make over slated to begin later this year. This is Stayat Worldide most latest project. STAYAT has been managing several hotels and it has converted several independent properties to Wyndham and ABVI brands in the states of Iowa and North Dakota. The buyers knew the hotel would require a major overhaul to meet the new design criteria set by Carlson Rezidor, but thought the Shakopee property was worth the investment, said listing Lee Kerfoot of Timm & Associates Inc. of Eden Prairie. “They were attracted to the market by all the business coming to the area,” Kerfoot said. The sellers had sold another Shakopee hotel in 2013 and this one as part of a plan to downsize their holdings, Kerfoot said.
